IS IT WORTH IT?
Machiavelli warned: "They have not any difficulties on the way up ... but they have many when they reach the summit."
What drives those at the top to try anyway? Vanity, the will to create, the thrill of power. Is it really worth the trouble to fight for a place at the top, time and time again? Should one not stop when the time is right? When the world-famous cellist Pablo Casals was asked why, into his nineties, he still practiced for several hours a day, he answered: "Because I think I'm making progress."
